Through art and curation, Maro Pebo investigates living organisms and their interrelationships, territories of the life sciences.
Born in Mexico City, her practice explores sacrifice in transpecies relationships, deep transformation through endosymbiosis, and the epistemic plurality proposed by feminist posthumanist thought. These investigations materialise as sculpture, living organisms, and installation.
Maro Pebo curates exhibitions and events at Waag Futurelab in Amsterdam. Her research has been published in Performance Research and Leonardo and presented at ISEA, Cornell University, and Media Art Histories.
Her work has been shown at the Cuenca Biennale, the Toronto Design Festival, The Rest Gallery (Ithaca, NY), Artphy (Groningen, NL), the Gerdau Museum (Belo Horizonte, Brazil), the Multimedia Centre (Mexico City), and the Lahore Media Arts Festival (Pakistan).
Her transdisciplinary work complements and transforms the life sciences’ responsibility to think about the materiality of the living.
